Bike: 2007 R1200S

Rider: Richard Cooper

Situation: #46 collides with a Ducati entering the racing line after a pit stop.

Richard Cooper is running in 2nd place with only 30 minutes to go in the 8hr race. A rookie rider enters the racing line from the pits instead of carefully merging back into the race. Cooper & the Ducati collide at over 80 mph & both bikes go down. Cooper hits his head hard & is disoriented. He gets up & falls back down, but finds the bike & enters the track just seconds before the safety car comes out. Cooper saved the race for SJBMW .

LAND SPEED TRIALS

9/6/07

Bike: 1978 R100

Rider: Willie Hodgson

Situation: Ride along with Willie on the Bonneville Bike during an actual run.

Things to look for during the run: 1. Salt blowing around inside the cockpit 2. Change of horizon as Willie deals with a cross-wind 3. Start of a serious tank slapper as he hits soft salt on the course at 152 mph 4. Finally coasting to a stop & the adrenaline starts pumping once he realizes how close he got to going down due to the bad surface (slightly graphic) shortly after Willie's run, a rider on a Suzuki went down at  190 mph

Rider: Willie Hodgson

Situation: Bike being started using rollers on the tow-truck. Willie takes off on the short course. Bad weather left the salt in a soft condition.

Practice run on the course at over 150 mph. Willie said the bike would kickout when he tried to go faster & he went through the lights a little sideways as it was.

Willie already has the record at 164.117

MOTO-ST DAYTONA

3/4/07

Bike: R1200S

Riders: Brian Parriott & Nate Kern

Situation: The first race of the 2007 season in the new MOTO-ST Series. Everyone was still learning the rules as we found out when we broke one. On one of our last pit stops, while LEADING, & with 2nd place only 30 seconds behind..... we left the engine running while we put the bike on the stand to change the rear tire. That's not allowed... & we received a 10 second penalty.

Brian Parriott rides into the pits to change places with Kern. Before Nate can leave, an official assess the penalty.
